Took an unusual route to the top of European golf, not seriously playing the game until he was 16.

Until that point had focused on cricket, playing in the same England youth teams as Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan, but went from an 18 handicap to scratch in less than a year and earned a golf scholarship to the University of South Carolina.

Returned home to play first on the EuroPro Tour and then the European Challenge Tour, having turned professional after the 2006 Qualifying School.

Captured his first DP World Tour title at the 2010 Madeira Islands Open, having graduated from the HotelPlanner Tour the previous year. Won his second title in 2015 at the Open de España.

After 15 years with full playing privileges on the DP World Tour, he played predominantly on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2025.

Came out on top in a play-off at the Blot Play9 in France in June 2025, and with retirement in his plans he sealed a fairytale return to the DP World Tour after securing victory at the 2025 Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A.
