Slabbert, who grew up in the Northern Cape province, was 14 years old when a trampoline accident on his parents’ farm near Kathu caused a severe injury to his leg leg.

Given the amount of blood lost and then developing gangrene, saving his leg became secondary to saving his life, and amputation above the knee followed.

Won his first G4D Tour title on his debut at the Betfred British Masters Net event in August 2025.
