Viktor Hovland saved his best until last once again as he fired an eagle on the 18th for the second day in succession at the 2025 BMW PGA Championship.
The Ryder Cup-bound Norwegian capped a flawless second round - which also contained four birdies - by swinging in his 44-foot eagle putt at the last to sign for a 66 and reach 11 under par.
He sits in a tie for second at the halfway stage, one shot off the lead after Hideki Matsuyama took over at the top in the afternoon.
Hovland did well to keep his card clean early on, producing a confidence-boosting par save from nine feet at the second hole after sending his tee-shot into a greenside bunker.
He then opened his birdie account from close range at the long fourth after narrowly missing his eagle try.
A lovely tee-shot at the par-three fifth set up an eight-foot birdie and he made it a hat-trick of gains with a tap-in on the sixth.
After pulling off impressive par saves at the 11th and 13th, Hovland got his fourth birdie of the day on the 16th before draining a monster putt on the last for an extraordinary eagle.
He said: "I can't remember when I chipped it and putted it as nicely as I did the last two days. That goes a long way.
"Iron play was not so good yesterday and started ramping up towards the end of the round. Today was better.
"We're getting it better but I still have to drive it a little bit better so I can get myself more iron shots from the fairway but really happy with the way I'm scoring.
"I'm super happy to be where I'm at and scoring-wise, it's incredible, to be honest with you.
"I really am struggling off the tee, and I'm just trying to do whatever I can just to put it in the fairway. Trying not to hit it off-line and in the trees, and so far, it's been good, and from there I've been amazing.
"But I do want to play the game a little bit more stress-free."
Ryder Cup team-mate Ludvig Åberg was also at 11 under after a 69, with the Swede having led before there was a three-shot swing with playing partner Matsuyama on the 17th.
"I feel like I've been keeping the ball in front of me in a good and positive way," he said. "Obviously, it's quite tricky when the wind that we had in the first couple of holes and then rain got in there and then the wind came back and some rain. So it's definitely a little bit on and off the weather today and I felt like I did a good job of keeping it very simple, keeping it in front of me and putted and chipped pretty well I think.
"It's definitely not easy. I would never say it's easy. Today, it's really it's just one of them days where it seems like if you keep the ball in front of you, if you're being efficient on the greens, you can get away with a decent score."
