Young refreshed and ready to go in Poland

Daniel Young is targeting top spot in the Road to Mallorca Rankings when he tees it up in the GAC Rosa Challenge Tour at Rosa Golf Club this week.

The Scotsman arrives in Poland fresh from a week off but does so in the midst of his best season to date as a professional.

The 34-year-old has been on an outstanding run of form, recording four top three finishes in his last four HotelPlanner Tour outings, with one of those being a breakthrough victory on home soil in the Farmfoods Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A.

Young’s recent results have seen him rocket up to fourth in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, and with six events of the 2025 season still to play, he has his eyes on more than just promotion to the DP World Tour.

“I’m in a great position at the minute,” he said. “From my point of view, it’s now about trying to win the Rankings.

“I’d probably have to win another one to do that, so the immediate goal is to keep progressing like I’ve done the last two months, keep the performances of a similar level and I don’t think I’ll be too far away from chalking up another win.

“It’s been a really good year. I had a consistent start to the season, then there have been some fireworks in the last couple of months.

“Everyone’s goal is to get one of the DP World Tour cards, but as the season progresses and with the position I’m in, it’s more of a realistic goal that I can win the Rankings.”

Young played in Poland last season as the HotelPlanner Tour returned to the country for the first time in 15 years.

The Scot is back this year looking to draw on past experience after finishing in a share of 33rd at Rosa Golf Club 12 months ago.

“The course was in amazing shape last year,” he added. “From what I remember, it got really firm and fiery over the weekend and quite difficult.

“I feel like if there’s a bit of a heat and a bit of wind, it could be a tricky test. They’ve brought in the fairways in a little this year, and the rough is a bit thicker in places which will obviously make it a trickier test as well.

“From my point of view, it’s nice to come in here having just had a week off, feeling fresher for the last three weeks in Europe. The game feels good.”

Young joins a strong field in Poland that includes Scottish countryman and current Road to Mallorca Number One David Law, and DP World Tour winners Adri Arnaus and David Horsey.

The opening round of the GAC Rosa Challenge Tour gets under way on Thursday at 7:15am local time, with Young teeing off alongside Englishman Jamie Rutherford and Dane Jonathan Gøth-Rasmussen at 12:55pm.
