Who can win the Closing Swing at the Danish Golf Championship?

Grant Forrest ended American dominance in the Closing Swing with his victory at the Nexo Championship but his absence at the Danish Golf Championship means the chase is on to determine the winner of the final Global Swing on the Race to Dubai.

With both Forrest and American Ryan Gerard – the top two players on the Closing Swing Rankings – missing from this week's field at Furesø Golf Klub, the door is open for those in the chasing pack.

One of five Global Swings which form Phase One of the DP World Tour’s global schedule in 2025, there is again the prize of a place in every event of Phase Two – the Back 9 – and a $US200,000 bonus.

Here, we take a look at the players still able to win the Swing and their possible routes to glory.

OK, while he might not be teeing it up in Copenhagen, Forrest remains the most likely Swing winner after picking up the maximum 585 points for his win on home soil over the weekend. Going alongside the 78.06 points he picked up for finishing tied 22nd at the Genesis Scottish Open, he has now amassed 633.79 points across two starts in the Swing. That gives him a 40.79-point advantage to second-placed Gerard, who won the Barracuda Championship.

Marco Penge is the man best placed to catch Forrest, trailing by 167.22 points ahead of the Swing finale. In what has been a breakout campaign, featuring a maiden DP World Tour win at the Hainan Classic, the Englishman held his own around esteemed company as he finished in a tie for second at Scotland’s national Open in the Rolex Series. Coupled with a tie for 27th on his most recent outing in Scotland, he has picked up 466.57 from his two counting starts in the Swing. A top four finish or better gives him a chance of overtaking Forrest at the summit.

Joe Dean is the next best bet you would suspect, climbing 78 spots in the Swing standings to fifth as a result of his runner-up spot in Aberdeenshire. With 389.00 points from the Genesis Scottish Open and Nexo Championship, Dean trails Forrest by a sizeable 244.79 points. What that means is he needs to finish second for the second week running, and then hope that Penge doesn’t finish in the top four.

Kristoffer Reitan may have already won one Global Swing, claiming the European Swing, but the Norwegian is in the mix for another. Coming into the week in seventh place on the Swing Rankings, he trails Forrest by 377.88 points. A top two finish is required by the HotelPlanner Tour graduate if he is to land Swing success again. While it’s a tall order, he has two runner-up finishes this season to go alongside his win in Belgium so don’t write him off.

Beyond that, the equation is simple. From Nicolai Højgaard at eighth in the Swing Rankings to Casey Jarvis at 37th, and everyone else teeing it up in between, a win is a necessity. And, of course, there is then a reliance on other results - in some cases several permutations - going their way.
