Ryan Fox delighted to be back in Europe for FedEx Open de France

Ryan Fox is enjoying being back on the DP World Tour as he looks for a second career victory on French soil at the FedEx Open de France.

The Kiwi claimed his maiden European Tour group victory at Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2015 and since then has gone on to be a truly international star.

He has claimed four DP World Tour wins on three different continents - including a Rolex Series victory at the 2023 BMW PGA Championship - and this season has made his breakthrough in the United States with two PGA TOUR victories.

Always a globetrotter throughout his career, the popular 38-year-old is now based on the other side of the Atlantic but he is relishing being back in Europe in a country where he has previously tasted victory.

"I've always really enjoyed coming to France," he said. "Food, wine, the people are great. The golf courses feel a little bit like home as well.

"I like a golf course where, like this week, it feels very old school, tree-lined, tight. And that's what I grew up on and I think that's why I've really enjoyed playing golf here as well.

"The camaraderie we've got over here is fantastic. Obviously I've played out here for quite a long time now and got some good mates out here.

"We go to some good places. Obviously we were in London last week for Wentworth. We're in Paris this week. Tour goes to St Andrews in a couple of weeks. We go to Madrid. All lots of really cool places around the world.

"We play a great variety of golf, as well. You know, we've got an old-school style golf course this week, links golf, some parkland, we get some heathland golf courses like Wentworth was. It's just a really fun Tour to play.

"I really enjoy the travel. Obviously I'm from about as far away as you can get from Europe and we were based up in the UK for quite a few years and just really enjoyed something different. My family spent a bit of time up here as well and they loved it. It was just a great few years playing over here.

"Obviously different based in the US now, but really enjoy coming back."

It has been something of a case of feast or famine for Fox in 2025, with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic bringing his only top ten outside of his two wins.

And while he admits confidence is not high, Fox was glad to see some good signs last week at Wentworth Club.

"I played really well through the middle of the year but then the back end has been a bit scratchy to be honest," he said.

"I didn't have a lot of confidence going into Wentworth last week. I had taken three weeks off and hadn't played very well in the play-offs over in the States.

"Didn't show much in the first round but actually played pretty solid over the weekend and felt like I found a little bit more confidence in the game. I had a couple of bogey-free rounds on Friday and Saturday and squeaked in and made the cut. It wasn't a great finish but it felt like I was a couple of putts here and there from a top 25 or a top 20 and so I got a bit to take into this week."
