Eddie Pepperell is excited to return to the scene of his maiden professional title for this week's Blot Play9 at Golf Bluegreen de Pléneuf Val André.
The Englishman kickstarted his career by overcoming Denmark’s Jeppe Huldahl in a play-off to claim victory at the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne in 2012 en route to graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour.
“It feels really nice to be back in Brittany,” he said. “I remember winning in the play-off here and the golf course is beautiful. It was my first HotelPlanner Tour event of the season, and it was special to pick up my first professional win.
“I made the most of my opportunity and I went on to get my DP World Tour card at the end of that year and I haven’t really looked back.”
The 34-year-old went on to enjoy 12 successive seasons on the DP World Tour where he picked up two victories in 2018 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and Sky Sports British Masters.
Pepperell lost his DP World Tour card at the end of last season, however he is hoping for a quick return via the Road to Mallorca Rankings and will be looking to use fond memories in Pléneuf this week to kick-start an upturn in form.
“I’m feeling pretty good this week,” he said. “I’m in a better place physically and mentally than I was at the start of the year. I’ve done a bit of work on my game, and I know there is so much golf left to play this year.
“I’m looking forward to a busy run of events and hopefully I can put together some decent form and start to climb the Rankings.”
Pepperell joins a strong field in Brittany this week including other Blot Play9 champions Alfie Plant and Stuart Manley and last week’s Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge winner Palmer Jackson.
The Blot Play9 will get under way at 7:50am local time on Thursday, with Pepperell teeing it up alongside Jackson and home favourite Clement Charmasson at 1:30pm.
