Nathan Kimsey reeled off nine successive birdies at The Old Course, St Andrews on Friday to write his name into the DP World Tour record books.
No-one has ever recorded more birdies in succession during a single round in the history of the DP World Tour, with Matt Wallace and James Nitties the only other players to manage nine in a row.
Here is a closer look at how each player did it.
Kimsey - 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, The Old Course, St Andrews
After posting an opening 71 at Kingsbarns Golf Links on Thursday, Englishman Kimsey made a lightning-quick start to his second round on The Old Course. Having started with a par at the first, he kicked off the record-equalling birdie run on the second after lifting his approach to six feet. He rolled in a 16-footer at the third before making it three in a row from close range on the fourth. After also taking advantage of the par-five fifth, Kimsey kept the streak going with seven-foot efforts at the sixth and seventh before draining lengthy putts on the eighth and ninth. He started the back nine with another birdie - this time from around seven feet - to tie the record.
Wallace - 2023 DP World Tour Championship, Jumeirah Golf Estates (Earth course)
Wallace birdied every hole on the back nine during a remarkable third round in Dubai two years ago. After turning in 33 blows, a 29-foot putt on the tenth kick-started his remarkable run as he holed another long putt on the next and left himself six feet on the 12th. A stunning tee-shot to three feet on the 13th was followed by a second two-putt birdie of the day and he pitched to two feet at the short 15th for another. An approach to tap-in range at the 16th continued the run and a tee-shot to six feet on the 17th made it eight in a row. He then hit a perfect drive on the par-five 18th but found sand with his second before leaving his bunker shot just two feet from the pin as he made a closing birdie. The round did not go in the record books due to preferred lies being in place.
Nitties - 2019 ISPS Handa Vic Open, 13th Beach Golf Club
Starting his first round from the tenth tee, home favourite Nitties bounced back from a double bogey on the 14th with four straight birdies on his way to the turn. He then began the front nine with five more to make it nine in a row.
