Stefano Mazzoli is looking to continue his promotion push when he tees it up on home soil in the Italian Challenge Open at Golf Nazionale this week.
The Italian has been a model of consistency on the 2025 Road to Mallorca, making the cut in all 18 starts this term whilst recording six top ten finishes.
Mazzoli’s form has seen him climb to 19th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings with four events remaining, and with 20 DP World Tour cards on offer at the season’s end, he is in a strong position to earn a first promotion to Golf’s Global Tour.
“It would mean a lot to get my card,” he said. “That’s why we’re here. It’s obviously a dream that would come true.
“It’s a dream of everyone here. To be able to achieve it would mean a lot for me and my family.
“I’ve had a lot of chances that I didn’t really take advantage of through the season, several good results but I feel like I left a lot out there. I’m trying to be patient on the course, and I think that’s the biggest key.
“I’m really pleased with how I’m playing, and I’m looking forward to these last few tournaments here, in China and at the Rolex Grand Final so we’ll see how it goes.”
Mazzoli is no stranger to Golf Nazionale having spent weeks at the home of the Italian Golf Federation in Sutri as an amateur.
The 28-year-old is looking to draw on those fond memories when play gets under way on Thursday.
“I came here really young, playing tournaments at a young age and we always had a lot of fun,” he added. “There were a lot of competitions as an amateur, then as professionals on the Alps Tour.
“It’s a pretty special place for Italian players. It’s not a new course. It’s old school with tricky and with slopy greens. It’s challenging and it’s always fun to play around here.
“I have a lot of good memories for sure. It would mean a lot to do well this week.”
Mazzoli is part of a strong field in Italy that includes countrymen Renato Paratore and Filippo Celli, who both sit inside the top five on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, and DP World Tour winners Eddie Pepperell and Adri Arnaus.
The first round of the Italian Challenge Open gets under way on Thursday at 7:50am local time, with Mazzoli teeing off alongside South Africa JC Ritchie and Frenchman Félix Mory at 1:20pm.
