Kristoffer Reitan believes he is managing the tough conditions better as the tournament progresses after carding the best third round of the Nexo Championship.
The Norwegian has enjoyed a breakout year on the DP World Tour, earning his first victory at the Soudal Open in May and was last seen posting a top 30 finish at The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush last month.
He currently sits fifth in the Race to Dubai Rankings and is projected to climb to second in the standings after his four-under 68 saw him surge into contention at Trump International Golf Links.
Reitan is in a share of second alongside England's Todd Clements and Dutchman Daan Huizing at five under par, three adrift of overnight leader Grant Forrest following three birdies in his final five holes.
Navigating the harsh conditions on the Aberdeenshire coastline has been key over the first three rounds, and Reitan, who signed for six birdies and two bogeys on Moving Day, admitted he felt his management of the wind has improved each day.
"I've been hitting the ball well off the tees, keeping it in play," Reitan said.
"It's not necessarily been perfect, I've just navigated my way around and today I hit some better approach shots, which helps a lot.
"I struggle to putt on these greens but if you hit it close enough, there were occasions where they were makeable which was nice. Happy with the round overall.
"With the heaviness of the wind, I played the Scottish (Open) and The Open but this is a different type of wind, it's just so much stronger and takes some getting used to, but I feel like I managed it nicely today.
"It was nice, specifically, finishing off strongly, mainly navigating the wind and managing it a little. Not neccessarily hitting technically perfect shots, just make it go towards the wind and keep it from drifting off line so I felt I did a good job of that today.
"It's like if you hit a fade, you have to aim right edge of the fairway on a few of these holes, which is very uncomfortable, so you had to aim into the bush.
"You have to trust that it will come back and it's not very comfortable, but just getting used to it and being able to trust the strong winds. That's what you've got to do.
"I feel like I've managed that better and better each day, so hopefully that keeps going into tomorrow."
