Jordan Weber's Crans adventure takes him from simulator to the DP World Tour

Jordan Weber took his place in a world-class field on the DP World Tour this week but his journey to the Omega European Masters started on a simulator before taking him to the mountains.

The 39-year-old American was among the hundreds of participants who played in the Omega European Masters virtual tournament from Trackman simulators around the world from July 15 to August 10.

And along with Anton Kiddy Nilsson of Sweden and fellow American Blake Sattler, Weber finished in the top three to earn his spot in the final qualification round for the real-life Omega European Masters on the actual course at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club on Tuesday morning.

It was Weber who came out on top in the qualifier, booking his second DP World Tour start after teeing it up at last year's European Open in Germany following his NEXT Golf Tour Order of Merit triumph.

Speaking after completing his second round of the weather-affected tournament on Saturday, Weber said: "It was a great experience. The course is beautiful.

"It's awesome to be here, it's awesome to be part of the DP World Tour and it was really fun.

"The NEXT Golf Tour is great. It prepared me for this event and then they had this special tournament - one round and the top three qualified to come here and then we had an 18-hole match to get in the tournament and I was fortunate enough to get through that.

"Trackman keeps doing great things like that to help grow the game and also to give professionals a chance to play with these guys and see what they're made of.

"The course played very similarly to how it plays on the simulator. There's just some different challenges, with the wind changing and all that.

"And the different lies that I'm not used to. The putting and actually being on the slopes is a challenge for me.

"So I struggled with that a little bit but as far as how far the ball goes and what spots you hit it to, it really did prepare me in that way."

Playing in DP World Tour events marks the latest remarkable chapter in his incredible story.

Weber turned professional back in 2008 but prior to taking part in the NEXT Golf Tour, he had been away from the sport for more than a decade.

Trackman and the NEXT Golf Tour continue to make golfing dreams come true after Nick Carlson went from being a NEXT Golf Tour winner to a current HotelPlanner Tour star, with every chance of graduating to the DP World Tour next season.
