Home favourites confirmed for Danish Golf Championship

The quartet of Højgaard twins, Nicolai and Rasmus, Niklas Nørgaard and Thorbjørn Olesen will return to home soil this week when they tee it up in the Danish Golf Championship at Furesø Golf Klub, from August 11-14.

They join a field which includes a number of other Danish favourites, including victorious 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn, DP World Tour winners Lucas Bjerregaard and Jeff Winther, and rising stars Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and Jacob Skov Olesen.

Tickets are still available to purchase for this year’s Danish Golf Championship, starting from 140 DKK, with a season pass available for 600 DKK. Click here to purchase.

Since they burst on to the scene, the Højgaard twins have won a total of eight DP World Tour titles between them and both are dual members of the PGA TOUR after earning their cards through the Tour’s pathway. Nicolai’s last victory was at the 2023 season-ending DP World Tour Championship while Rasmus held off the challenge of Major Champion and home favourite Rory McIlroy to win the Amgen Irish Open in 2024.

Rasmus also became the first home winner of the Danish Golf Championship, formerly known as Made in HimmerLand, when he defeated Nacho Elvira in a six-hole play-off in 2023.

“It’s always special having the chance to play at home, even more so as a former winner of this event,” said Rasmus. “I’m excited to return to Europe to continue my season and hope that I can end the year strongly, starting with a positive performance at Furesø.”

Nicolai, who will be making his eighth consecutive appearance in the tournament, added: “There’s no better feeling than playing at home in front of such passionate fans. There’s a great atmosphere all week during the event and we all feel incredibly supported.”

Olesen, who represented Europe as a member of Bjørn’s team at the 2018 Ryder Cup, has competed in every edition of the Danish Golf Championship since it was first played in 2014.

“It’s important that we come back and support this event when we get the opportunity to do so and it’s a tournament I have always enjoyed playing in,” said the eight-time DP World Tour winner. “I’ve been fortunate enough to win in a number of countries around the world, but it would be very special to pick up a victory on home soil, which I would love to do next week.”

Since his maiden DP World Tour victory at last year’s Betfred British Masters, Nørgaard has gone on to make his debut in three Major Championships in 2025. He also represented Continental Europe at the Team Cup at the start of the season and finished in a share of fourth at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

“I had a great time at last year’s Danish Golf Championship and then won my first DP World Tour title the following week at The Belfry, so there are definitely some positive feelings ahead of my return to Denmark next week,” said Nørgaard. “We are very proud to represent our country on the world stage, but there’s no feeling like playing on home soil.”
