The New Course at Trump International Golf Links officially opened last week, marking a major milestone for the world-renowned venue in Aberdeenshire.
Ahead of the upcoming Nexo Championship - played on the iconic Old Course - DP World Tour professional David Micheluzzi posted the first professional round on the newly unveiled layout off the grand opening white tees.
Micheluzzi carded an impressive four under par round of 68 on Wednesday morning, etching his name into the course’s early history just days after its grand opening, and the full video of his round on the New Course will be released this weekend on the DP World Tour’s social channels.
The 29-year-old is an accomplished Australian golfer currently competing on the DP World Tour. He was the winner of the 2022–23 PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit.
“The New Course at Trump International Golf Links was an absolute treat,” he said. “It had everything you could think of, and it was a pleasure to play. The landscaping of the holes was incredible and to have the chance to play it was very cool.”
The New Course offers a striking and dynamic design that celebrates the natural contours of Scotland’s rugged northeast coastline. Spanning hundreds of acres, the 18-hole links layout features dramatic views of the North Sea, towering dune formations, the world’s largest natural bunker, and signature infinity greens that blend seamlessly into the coastal landscape.
Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President at Trump International, said: “This has been a truly momentous ten days as we prepared for the grand opening of the new course here at Trump International Golf Links. We believe we now have the best 36 holes of golf here in the home of golf.
“To build another 18 holes of golf here was no easy feat. We didn’t want to build a second course, we wanted to build a course of the same magnitude and stature as our original course, and we believe we have achieved that. We are very proud of what we have accomplished, and we are excited to see golfers from all over the world come and experience it.”
