Short-game masterclass with Shane Lowry and Matt Fitzpatrick

Shane Lowry and Matt Fitzpatrick are two of the DP World World Tour's leading stars - winner of Majors, Ryder Cups and Rolex Series titles.

That does not mean they have finished learning, though, and they are more than happy to learn from each other and their fellow professionals in the pursuit of golfing perfection.

Ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, each of them took the lead in presenting a masterclass in what the statistics say is their strongest suit in 2025.

Lowry ranks third in strokes gained approach on the DP World Tour season and he talks all things from 100-130 yards in, including managing expectations, reading the lie, knowing the grass, learning from your playing partners and his nerves when hitting that approach into the 18th at Bethpage.

Fitzpatrick is the top player on Tour for strokes gained around the green and he opens up on how going left below right in his grip has given him consistency, before Lowry has a go with his unorthodox technique.

The duo also share tips for amateurs on set-up, the importance of practice and much more.

If you want to improve your short game, you could do worse than follow their lead.
