Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship - All the winners

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship has its 20th edition this week, with 15 players having lifted the Falcon trophy since 2006.

We have had three multiple winners from 535 players across two venues, with eight different nationalities having tasted glory in the desert.

Here, we take a look at all the men who can call themselves an Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship winner.

Chris DiMarco - 2006

The DP World Tour rolled into the Emirate for the first time in 2006 and it was American Chris DiMarco who emerged victorious from a world-class field. He arrived in the desert for his season-opener as a three-time PGA TOUR winner and off the back of a 2005 that saw him lose a play-off to Tiger Woods at the Masters and finish second in two World Golf Championships. A stunning third-round 63 set up a final-day duel with Henrik Stenson and the American never looked back after playing his first four holes on Sunday in four under, claiming a one-shot win at 19 under after a closing 67. It was his only DP World Tour win and his final individual win as a professional.

Paul Casey - 2007, 2009

Already a seven-time DP World Tour champion and two-time Ryder winner, Casey came into the 2007 season having finished second on the Order of Merit the previous campaign. He went into the final day at Abu Dhabi Golf Club three shots off the lead but a closing 65 took him to 17 under and a one-shot win over Peter Hanson and Miguel Ángel Jiménez. He missed the cut in his defence but established a four-shot lead in 2009, carding a closing 70 to hold on at 21 under and finish one ahead of Martin Kaymer and Louis Oosthuizen. He would go on to win the BMW PGA Championship later that season, reaching a career-high third in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Martin Kaymer - 2008, 2010, 2011

A HotelPlanner Tour graduate in 2006 and Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 2007, Kaymer took the next step in what would be a monumental career by claiming a maiden DP World Tour win at the event in 2008. He could afford a closing 74 as he won by four shots at 15 under and after finishing second to Casey 12 months later, he won again in 2010 with a birdie on the last at 21 under after a close-fought battle with Ian Poulter and Rory McIlroy. He would go on to win a maiden Major and the Race to Dubai that season and just weeks after successfully defending the Falcon Trophy in 2011 with an eight-shot victory at a record 24 under, he rose to World Number One. More drama in the desert would follow for Kaymer but we'll get there shortly.........

Robert Rock - 2012

Rock enjoyed a fine DP World Tour career on many levels but there is no doubt he will always be remembered for the time he took down Tiger. The former teaching professional had claimed a maiden win the previous season but many would have expected him to crumble in a final group alongside Woods and with Major champions McIlroy and Paul Lawrie breathing down his neck. What he did was flourish, carding a 70 to Woods' 72 to finish one shot ahead of McIlroy at 13 under. It would be Rock's final win but he was a Tour regular for another decade, racking up 468 appearances while moving into coaching.

Jamie Donaldson - 2013

A two-time HotelPlanner Tour graduate, Donaldson had enjoyed four consecutive solid seasons on Tour before claiming his maiden win in 2012 and setting in motion a purple patch in his career. His victory in Abu Dhabi came in dramatic fashion as he three-putted the last to lead by one and had to watch on as Justin Rose and Thorbjørn Olesen narrowly missed birdie chances to send it to a play-off. He would win again in 2014, the same season he claimed the vital point as Europe won the Ryder Cup and he has since joined the DP World Tour's 500-appearance club.

Pablo Larrazábal - 2014

Arriving in the desert, the Spaniard was already a two-time DP World Tour winner and no stranger to taking down big names having beaten Sergio Garcia in a play-off to win the BMW International Open three years earlier. This time it was McIlroy and Phil Mickelson, and Larrazábal came home in 33, birdieing the last, to finish at 14 under after a 67 and keep them both at bay. He has since taken his tally of wins to nine, with four in the last four seasons.

Gary Stal - 2015

We said there would be more Kaymer drama and it came in 2015 as Frenchman Stal claimed one of the most dramatic victories in DP World Tour history. He started the final day eight shots behind Kaymer and the German would lead the entire field by ten after five holes. But a bogey on the sixth, double on the ninth and triple on the 13th left the door open and Stal walked through, carding a closing bogey-free 65 to finish at 19 under, two clear of Kaymer and one ahead of McIlroy. It would be the only DP World Tour win for Stal, who won twice on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2012.

Rickie Fowler - 2016

A decade after DiMarco had won the inaugural event, the trophy was back in American hands thanks to two moments of brilliance in the final round from Fowler. He arrived in Abu Dhabi as the World Number Six and entered round four with a two-shot lead but that was cut to one by McIlroy and Stenson as he played the 17th. Having earlier holed a bunker shot for eagle at the eighth, he holed out again on the penultimate hole to get to 16 under and extend his advantage to two, a lead that was cut back to one by runner-up Pieters on the last. It was Fowler's second and latest DP World Tour win to go with six PGA TOUR victories, including THE PLAYERS Championship in 2015.

Tommy Fleetwood - 2017, 2018

The Englishman had finished in the top 50 on the Race to Dubai for the past four seasons but a win in Abu Dhabi would catapult him to new heights in 2017. He entered the final day a shot behind overnight leader Tyrrell Hatton and turned in 36 on a day of tough scoring and gusting winds at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. A wonderful chip-in eagle on the tenth then sparked his round to life and three further birdies helped him seal a 17 under total and a one-shot win over U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson and Larrazábal. With another victory at the Open de France, Fleetwood would finish the year as European Number One and made it back-to-back wins in the desert shortly after, coming home in 30 to finish at 22 under and two ahead of Ross Fisher.

Shane Lowry - 2019

A new era dawned in 2019 as the event joined the Rolex Series and we had a new name and a new nationality on the trophy in Shane Lowry. The Irishman had won on the DP World Tour as an amateur and claimed a World Golf Championships title but he set the tone for a career-best year in the desert with an opening 62. It was not all plain sailing from there and he trailed Richard Sterne by four shots in the final round but a birdie on the last got him to 18 under and sealed a wire-to-wire win by one shot. Better was to come in the summer with unforgettable scenes as he won The Open Championship in Northern Ireland.

Lee Westwood - 2020

Winner of 25 DP World Tour events, Westwood claimed his latest in Abu Dhabi thanks to a brilliant display of front-running on the final day. He entered round four with a one-shot lead and, while he was briefly caught, he was never passed, carding a 67 to get to 19 under and finish two shots ahead of countrymen Matthew Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood, and Frenchman Victor Perez. He missed just one cut all season and when the batte for the Harry Vardon Trophy went down to a shootout in Dubai, he finished second to be crowned European Number One for a third time.

Tyrrell Hatton - 2021

No player has won more prize money at this event than Hatton and his victory in 2021 played a big part in that. The Englishman went toe to toe with McIlroy throughout the week but after a brilliant closing 66 got him to 18 under, he had left McIlroy and the rest of the field trailing with a four-shot win. The victory not only moved Hatton level with Jon Rahm on four Rolex Series wins - the duo are still top of that category and both now have five - but moved him to a career-high fifth in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Thomas Pieters - 2022

After 16 years at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the event moved to Yas Links in 2022 and it proved a tough test for the field. In the end it was Pieters who became Belgium's first Rolex Series champion, carding just one birdie and one bogey on a closing 72 to seal a one-shot win at ten under ahead of Rafa Cabrera Bello and Shubhankar Sharma. It was Pieters' sixth victory and came just 77 days after his last, with a run of form helping him secure a first top ten on the season-long standings.

Victor Perez - 2023

Perez produced one of the shots of the season and perhaps his career en route to a first Rolex Series win. He started the final day one shot off the ead but led by one when he found sand on the 17th on a tense final day. He then incredibly sent the ball past the flag and spun it back for a birdie which meant he could afford a bigey on the last in a one-shot win at 18 under. It was Perez's third win on Tour and he is now a dual member with the PGA TOUR.

Paul Waring - 2024

The event took on even greater prominence last season as it moved from its traditional early-season spot to be the penultimate event and the first tournament of the new DP World Tour Play-Offs. A course-record 61 in the second round handed Waring a five-shot lead but that was cut to one ahead of a tense final day. He was caught by Hatton but responded in perfect fashion, holing a 40-footer for birdie on the 17th and making a gain on the par-five last to equal the winning score to par at 24 under and win by two. It was Waring's second DP World Tour title and first in the Rolex Series.
