A host of world-renowned names will tee it up at the BMW PGA Championship next month when the Rolex Series event returns to Wentworth Club from September 9-14.
The event is close to a sell-out, so fans are advised to purchase soon to see some of the world’s best players in action. General Admission tickets are sold out for Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, with just a handful of tickets remaining for Friday. Tickets are available for Thursday’s first round action on September 11 - click here for more information.
Defending champion Billy Horschel and Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy will be joined by 11-time PGA TOUR winner Hideki Matsuyama. Making his BMW PGA Championship debut, the 2021 Masters Tournament winner will be in the company of fellow Green Jacket winners Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed and Danny Willett.
Home favourite Tommy Fleetwood will be making his first appearance since winning the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup after triumphing in the TOUR Championship at East Lake. Fleetwood has secured his spot in Europe’s 2025 Ryder Cup side, alongside McIlroy, Rose, Hatton Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and Denmark’s Rasmus Højgaard, who will also be playing ahead of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage, with Luke Donald finalising his team next Monday.
Willett is one of a number of former BMW PGA Champions returning to the West Course in a fortnight’s time, with each winner since 2017 also teeing it up. Alex Noren, who won his first title in more than seven years at last week’s Betfred British Masters, will return to the venue where he holds the joint course record after he signed for a ten under par final round 62 when he won in 2017.
Francesco Molinari claimed the title in 2018, the same year he became the first male Major winner from Italy after triumphing at The Open at Carnoustie, with Willett and Tyrrell Hatton making it back-to-back wins for home favourites in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Horschel won his first BMW PGA title in 2021, bookending Shane Lowry and Ryan Fox’s victories in 2022 and 2023 with his second triumph last year.
New Zealander Ryan Fox won twice on the PGA TOUR in the space of a month earlier this year at the Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic and RBC Canadian Open.
There will be a total of 12 Major Champions competing, with Wyndham Clark, Pádraig Harrington, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose and Adam Scott also in the field.
Also confirmed for Wentworth is Australian Rolex Series winner Min Woo Lee and Belgium’s Thomas Detry, who also made their PGA TOUR breakthroughs at the start of the 2025 season, winning the Texas Children’s Houston Open and WM Phoenix Open respectively, and fellow PGA TOUR winners Michael Kim, Si Woo Kim, Jhonattan Vegas and Kevin Yu.
Darrell O’Hora, Championship Director of the BMW PGA Championship, said: “We are very excited to welcome a world class field to Wentworth Club next month for the BMW PGA Championship.
“As the Festival of Golf, there is a packed itinerary of golf, music and entertainment throughout the week. From the Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday to Razorlight and Ella Henderson performing after the final putts drop over the weekend, it promises to be a fantastic event for the whole family.”
