Elvis Smylie eyeing PGA TOUR card to put cherry on top of stunning debut season

Elvis Smylie is hoping to put the cherry on top of a remarkable season by earning a PGA TOUR card for 2026 with a strong finish at the DP World Tour Championship.

The 23-year-old made the perfect start to the 2025 campaign, winning the curtain-raiser on home soil at the BMW Australian PGA Championship to secure his DP World Tour playing privileges.

Smylie has been in the top 30 on the Race to Dubai Rankings ever since - comfortably inside the top-50 mark required to qualify for his first DP World Tour Championship appearance - and he is looking to finish a memorable debut season with another prize.

At the end of this week's tournament at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the top ten DP World Tour members on the final Race to Dubai Rankings who are not otherwise exempt will earn a PGA TOUR card, becoming dual members for the 2026 season.

Smylie currently sits 20th on the standings, five places behind Jordan Smith who occupies the tenth card as things stand.

But the Australian feels there is still time to rise up the Rankings and secure one of the cards before the season draws to a close on Sunday.

He said: "Yeah, I'm really excited to be here and at Jumeirah. This is my first time here and the first time in the tournament and obviously if you've got to this position, you've had a fairly good year and I think I've had a fairly good one as well.

"So yeah, really excited to hopefully have a good week and try and earn a PGA Tour card.

"I know I have to have a pretty high finish, but it's definitely possible.

"And I really like the course. I just finished the Pro-Am and you really do have to drive the ball well. There's a couple of bunkers that are placed at kind of awkward distances off the tee, so driving will be crucial this week.

"I've actually played on courses that are a little bit similar to this back home in Australia, like the Bermuda grass is something I'm quite used to and the little parts of the grain around the greens I'm used to.

"So I really haven't had to adjust too much to what I'm used to back home."
