Alex Noren proud after recording more DP World Tour wins than any other Swedish player

Alex Noren declared himself "extremely happy and proud" after becoming the most successful Swedish player in DP World Tour history in terms of victories with his second BMW PGA Championship win.

Noren, who also won this tournament in 2017, saw off Adrien Saddier at the first play-off hole following an enthralling final round at Wentworth Club on Sunday to claim his 12th DP World Tour title.

That moves him above countrymen Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson, who have each won 11 times.

Ryder Cup Vice Captain Noren is hopeful he can add to his tally over the coming years after winning twice in the past month but was proud after reaching the top of that list.

He said: "I never thought I would do that growing up.

"When you say it, it feels quite big.

"I'm extremely, extremely happy and proud.

"I've kind of dug deep many times and it's a long career. I hopefully have some more good years in me."

Noren has enjoyed significant success after recent injury struggles, winning the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo last month before coming out on top in England again this week for his third Rolex Series title.

He added: "As a golfer, you have a lot of hope, and I've always strived for success. I'm extremely hungry to get better, and I was jealous of players that can hit shots better than me and more consistently. I tried to kind of learn from that.

"So I want to be in this position, but then again, you have your doubts, you have your hopes and it's a whole mix of emotions."
