'A life-changing opportunity' - Paul Beauvy hoping for dream start to life as a professional by completing Q School journey

Paul Beauvy began DP World Tour Qualifying School as an amateur, but he is hoping he will soon be celebrating his new status as a professional with a place among the best on golf’s global Tour.

In late August, the 23-year-old, who graduated from Iowa State University in May, won at First Stage on home soil before navigating Second Stage last week in his first tournament since joining the paid ranks.

One of 50 players to have made their way from the beginning to Final Stage at INFINITUM, Beauvy is handily placed inside the top ten on the leaderboard through the opening two rounds in Spain.

After opening with a four-under-par 67 over the Lakes course on Thursday, a bogey-free second-round 65 on the Hills has seen him climb to 11 under and three adrift of pacesetter Tadeas Tetak of Slovakia.

With the top 15 and ties earning DP World Tour playing rights and the fallback of HotelPlanner Tour status those who make the 72-hole cut, Beauvy is aware of the “life-changing” opportunity to miss out playing on Satelitte tours and accelerate his career.

"When I came to First Stage, I knew it was [potentially going to be] 14 rounds and 252 holes of golf," he tells the DP World Tour.

"I knew it was going to be tough, lots of good players, not many spots.

"But I saw a life-changing opportunity to skip the third division [of professional golf] and be able to achieve many goals of mine or at least have a better chance to achieve them sooner.

"It's a big jump. So, obviously, it's a huge opportunity for me here at Qualifying School."

Beauvy brought his collegiate career - highlighted by victories at the 2025 N.I.T. and 2025 Gopher Invitational - to an end in May,

He soon after made his HotelPlanner Tour debut at the Blot Play9, playing all four rounds as he finished tied 34th.

But arguably the highlight of his year came when he made his DP World Tour debut at the FedEx Open de France in September.

Despite missing the cut, the thrill of playing in a field that contained Ryder Cup stars Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Åberg left a big impression.

"It was such a good experience," he recalls.

"The crowds were huge. Just having that many really good players and stars that I just watched growing up was very special.

"When I left the French Open, I told my coach, this is what I want to do. This is where I want to be.

"I knew I could have the opportunity to come here [Qualifying School] and do that for next season.

"So I'm just trying to take the experience I got at the French Open and keep them in my mind.

"Maybe, who knows, finish a good week here and maybe be able to do that next season."
