Wyndham Clark aiming to elevate his legacy with DP World Tour win

Wyndham Clark is eager to give himself the mark of a “great” player and win his first regular DP World Tour title this week at the Omega European Masters.

The American has three wins on home soil – including the 2023 U.S. Open – and while he is no stranger to Europe, having played Opens, Genesis Scottish Opens, a Ryder Cup, an Olympics and 2023 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, he is yet to taste victory.

He arrives at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club after strong performances in both Scotland and Northern Ireland over the summer and is now eager to become a dual tour winner.

“I love coming over to Europe, I love playing over here, I love links golf,” he said. “Obviously this isn’t links golf but I’ve enjoyed my time in Europe and played a lot better golf the last couple of months so I’m hoping I keep it going.

“I don’t have any wins over here so this would be a pretty awesome thing to win.

“All the great players win on both Tours. To win this tournament would be really special for me, I haven’t had a win this year so it would be very nice”.

Crans-Montana is often known as one of the first events DP World Tour members put on their calendar, not only for what is inside the ropes but the stunning scenery and hospitality outside.

The aesthetic has not been lost on Clark, who described Switzerland as gorgeous, but he will be all business come Thursday.

“Coming up here to Crans, it’s one of the prettiest places I’ve been to,” he said.

“I’m from Colorado and Vale, Colorado is very similar to this so I feel right at home. It’s a beautiful golf course with beautiful scenery.

“I’ve already done so many great things, the food has been amazing here.

“I love to compete so I’m excited to get inside the ropes and play. It’s fun playing at altitude, you get to hit the ball far and hopefully there are some good fans out and we get to enjoy the week.

“I know that everyone always says fairways and greens but because it’s really tight and there’s a lot of out of bounds and it’s hard to judge the golf ball, if you can hit a lot of greens I think you’ll put yourself in a great spot.”
