Which DP World Tour members are Oakmont bound after U.S. Open Final Qualifying?

Hundreds of hopefuls from around the world - ranging from established stars to little-known players - assembled at ten venues in North America on Monday with the aim of qualifying for the Major Championship at Oakmont Country Club from June 12-15.

Held over 36 holes, Final Qualifying began last month and generates great storylines year after year as big-name professionals and amateurs compete on the same stage, with 47 places available on Monday.

One venue proved particularly fruitful for some familiar figures from the DP World Tour as England’s Matt Wallace and France’s Victor Perez joined Danish duo Niklas Nørgaard and Thorbjørn Olesen in qualifying from Lambton Golf & Country Club in Ontario, Canada.

All four are dual members and will compete at the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA TOUR this week before heading to Pennsylvania.

While they have all experienced the challenge of competing in a Major, American James Nicholas will do that for the first time later this month after topping the standings at Canoe Book Country Club in Summit, New Jersey.

The American, who was a graduate of DP World Tour Qualifying School in 2023, is playing on the Korn Ferry Tour this season after losing out on his full playing privileges on golf’s Global Tour at the end of last year.

Elsewhere, Nicolai Højgaard missed out on securing one of the four qualifying spots on offer at Emerald Dunes Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

After opening with a six-under-par 66, the Dane carded a 70 when he resumed his second round on Tuesday after inclement weather halted play on Monday.

Among the high-profile players to seal a spot at the penultimate major of the season was DP World Tour winner Erik van Rooyen, while at the same qualifier PGA TOUR regular Cameron Young emerged from a five-for-one play-off that included Max Homa and Rickie Fowler at Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club in Columbus, Ohio.

Last month, Jordan Smith topped the standings from 36-hole Final Qualifying at Walton Heath as eight players secured their spot, with Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen doing so later that day in the United States.
