The HotelPlanner Tour is in Denmark this week for the Danish Golf Challenge, taking place at Bogense Golf Club from May 22-25. Here’s all you need to know…
Bogense Golf Club
Bogense Golf Club will this week make its debut as a host venue on the Road to Mallorca. Located 30 kilometres northwest of Odense, the Line Mortensen-designed course was built in 2006 and was previously known as Hans Christian Andersen Golf Club. The layout, within touching distance of the coastline, has a links-style feel and is littered with pot bunkers, ready to snare any wayward shot.
The course’s final three holes could also provide drama. The reachable par five 16th, short par four 17th and par three 18th provide ample opportunities for scoring and those who close out well could quickly rise the leaderboard.
Back-to-back
After a week off following the Challenge de España, the Danish Golf Challenge marks the start of nine consecutive HotelPlanner Tour events in Europe. With 2000 Road to Mallorca points available at each event, any consistent performers could catapult themselves up the Rankings and boost their chances of securing a DP World Tour card for next season.
Road to Mallorca Number Two Renato Paratore, Challenge de España winner Clement Charmasson and English duo Joshua Berry and Jamie Rutherford are all in the field, looking to close the gap to Number One Daniel van Tonder.
Danish talent
A host of Danish talent will take to the course in Bogense, looking to follow in the footsteps of 2024 Road to Mallorca Number One Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and former HotelPlanner Tour alumni Rasmus and Nicolai Højgaard. Victor Sidal Svendsen, who tasted victory on the Nordic Golf League last year, is the in-form Dane, having placed second at the Challenge de España and in a tie for fifth at the Abu Dhabi Challenge.
Sebastian Friedrichsen, Christoffer Bring and Christian Jacobsen are some of the other native players in the field to keep an eye on.
