The Road to Mallorca arrives in Finland this week, for the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge supported by Finnish Golf Union taking place at Vierumäki Resort. Here are three players to keep an eye on…
Form horse: Oihan Guillamoundeguy
Oihan Guillamoundeguy arrives in Finland in a buoyant mood having secured his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title with a three-stroke victory in the Irish Challenge at Killeen Castle last week. The Frenchman has catapulted to sixth in the Road to Mallorca Rankings following his win in Co. Meath and is now targeting promotion to the DP World Tour, with the leading 20 players graduating at the end of the season. The 20-year-old will be hoping to become the third player to claim back-to-back on the Road to Mallorca this season, following Daniel van Tonder and Renato Paratore.
Local boy: Lauri Ruuska
Lauri Ruuska has struggled for consistency so far on the 2025 Road to Mallorca but will be hoping to harness home advantage and past success at Vierumäki Resort this week. He became the second player from Finland to win on home soil after he clinched his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title with a seven-shot victory in 2023 at the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge. The 31-year-old also became just the fourth player in the Tour’s history to shoot a round of 59 or better when he achieved the feat during round one.
The outsider: Kim Koivu
Kim Koivu became the first Finnish player to win the event in 2018 after coming out on top in a play-off against 2023 Ryder Cup star Robert MacIntyre to secure his second title of the season. Koivu added a third title later that year, the 2018 Rolex trophy and subsequently gained automatic promotion to the DP World Tour. The 34-year-old will be hoping a return to home soil can be the catalyst for more success as he prepares to tee it up again this week.
