Sungjae Im and Si Woo Kim set for homecoming at Genesis Championship

The trio, who are Korea’s highest-ranked players on the Official World Golf Ranking, are the first announcements for what promises to be an exciting field of global talent, with further names to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Im, a two-time PGA TOUR winner, has held a position inside the Top 50 on the OWGR for nearly six years, with four-time PGA TOUR winner Kim also sitting inside the World’s Top 100 since the end of 2020.

Kim rose to prominence in 2017 as he won THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass, becoming the second Korean winner of the event after K.J. Choi. Both he and Im have represented the International Team at the Presidents Cup on three occasions, earning 13 points for their side in that time.

Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, host venue of 21 editions of the Kolon Korea Open, was last week announced as the venue for this year’s Genesis Championship and tickets are available now at an Early Bird rate. Click here to purchase.

Im, who finished in a share of fifth at this year’s Masters Tournament, will be making his second appearance on home soil this season. The 27-year-old is a former winner of the Genesis Championship, triumphing in 2019.

“I’m very proud to be able to call myself a winner of the Genesis Championship, not least because it was my first victory on home soil.” said Im.

“It is always a pleasure to play golf in Korea and I’m really looking forward to having another chance to do so later this year.

“The fans are incredibly supportive and there is always a great atmosphere. We are looking forward to the test that Woo Jeong Hills presents us in October.”

Kim will be making his first appearance in Korea since 2022, when he finished in a share of fifth at the Shinhan Donghae Open.

“I’m very excited to play on home soil again later this year,” said Kim. “It has been a few years since I last had the opportunity to do so, so I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the fans again and hopefully have a good performance for them.”

The Genesis Championship is the final event of the DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai, giving players the final opportunity to qualify for the season-ending DP World Tour Play-Offs. The tournament is co-sanctioned with the KPGA TOUR, with a field that will compromise 90 DP World Tour players and 36 from the KPGA TOUR.

The tournament forms a key part of the Strategic Alliance between the DP World Tour and KPGA TOUR, which offers a clear pathway for Korean players to compete on golf’s Global Tour.

Tickets for the Genesis Championship are currently on sale at a discounted Early Bird rate, with prices set to increase on September 15. Early bird General Admission tickets start from W21,000, with season passes also available from W70,000. For more information, click here.
