The family are based in Bangalore and when they decided to make the more than 1,000-mile journey to Delhi Golf Club, dad Kanwar reached out to Lowry to see if they could meet up with one of their sporting heroes.

Kanwar's wife Sinead is from near to Lowry's hometown in County Offaly and daughter Meera and son Jayden - an aspiring golfer himself - were both born in Ireland, turning up in New Delhi decked out in Irish flags and jerseys.

So there was no surprise that Lowry, a proud Irishman and sporting icon in his homeland, was more than happy to say hello.

"Am fortunate to travel the world and feel the support from fans but it’s when you least expect it when it means the most," Lowry posted on Instagram accompanied with a picture and a song of his beloved home county.

"The Arora family flew in from Bangalore to watch me play in India today. No matter where you go you’ll always find people from Offaly."

A special day to remember for Kanwar, Sinead, Meera, Jayden and Shane.
