The awards, decided by a vote of SJA members, saw McIlroy named Sportsman of the Year, while Donald won the Services to Sport off the Field of Play Award.

This is the second time McIlroy has won the award, the first being in 2014 when he was also part of a Ryder Cup winning team and won two Major Championships.

In 2025, as well as being part of Donald's victorious Ryder Cup squad at Bethpage, McIlroy also won the Masters Tournament to become just the sixth player to complete the career Grand Slam of all four of golf's men's Majors.

He also won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and PLAYERS Championship on the PGA TOUR, the Amgen Irish Open and could this week claim a fourth consecutive Race to Dubai title.

Donald, meanwhile, is honoured for "having demonstrated exceptional leadership" as he captained Europe to success for the second consecutive Ryder Cup in New York.
