Keita Nakajima wins Asian Swing

Keita Nakajima has won the Asian Swing after finishing in a tie for 11th at the Hainan Classic.

Nakajima had topped the standings heading into the final event of the third Global Swing in Phase One of the 2025 Race to Dubai after recording back-to-back runners-up finishes at the Porsche Singapore Classic and Hero Indian Open.

And he ended the week alongside nearest rival Eugenio Chacarra on nine under par at Mission Hills Resort Haikou to scoop a US$200,000 bonus and book his place at next month's US PGA Championship and the Back 9 events later in the year.

Chacarra, second on the Rankings, and Marco Penge, whose win on Sunday catapulted him up to third, also earned spots at Quail Hollow Club for the second Major Championship of the year.

Japan's Nakajima finished with 835.12 points, while Spaniard Chacarra amassed 790.45 and Englishman Penge 633.47.

Penge said: "Before this Swing started I said to my caddie 'my goal is to get in the US PGA, that's something that I'd love to do'.

"Obviously coming into this event I hadn't had a top-five (during the Asian Swing) or anything like that so I'd kind of forgotten about it a little bit.

"But it popped in my head last night. To be able to play against the best players in the world and see where I'm at compared to them will just be an unbelievable experience and something I'm looking forward to."
