John Parry had a Moving Day to remember at the 2025 Open de España presented by Madrid as a hole in one boosted his move into contention.
The Englishman shot a five-under-par 66 on Saturday at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid to move to six under for the tournament.
Compatriot Dan Bradbury quickly added the day's second ace at the ninth hole.
After five birdies, the highlight of Parry's round came late on when his eight iron at the 17th hole bounded forward and rolled right into the cup to earn him not just a prized golfing memory but also a brand new BMW iX3 worth approximately 90,000 euros.
“I actually did hit a good shot, it wasn’t just like a little lucky one," he said.
“I had about 197 (yards) and hit a high eight iron. Obviously the greens are like concrete so you’re just trying to pitch it front half.
"You can’t see anything from the tee but obviously the reaction sort of gave it away a little bit – but yeah, very pleased. You could gradually hear them as it’s getting closer, building up.
"You hear it sometimes and the reality is it misses the hole by a foot or something but yeah, it was amazing – and it’s better when you get to win a car as well, that makes it a little bit better!”
No such prize was on offer for the tempting pin position at the ninth but Parry's fellow Yorkshireman Bradbury was still delighted with an ace of his own right before the turn.
He said: "The pin's down there in the bowl and I managed to hit one that... I thought it was going to stay up for a second, it just caught the top of the ridge and as soon as it landed the crowd were getting excited so I knew it had a chance.
"We didn't see it go in, we just saw the crowd's reaction but that was pretty cool."
It was Bradbury's fourth DP World Tour hole in one, in just three years as a professional - and his second at this event, having aced the third hole in 2023's third round.
"That's number nine (overall) I think now," he added. "I had one a few weeks ago as well."
Saturday's perfect strike was much-needed after Bradbury had been five over par for his round prior to that point, but he said: "I hit one bad shot on the first three holes and I was five over through three. I've played alright since.
"It's just a mad game, first hole I hit a bad tee-shot and all of a sudden I'm signing for a seven."
