Since the DP World Tour first visited India in 2008, there have been six Indian winners, who between them have won 16 titles.
Ahead of the inaugural DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club this week, which features more than 25 Indian golfers, we look back at those who have celebrated success on Golf's Global Tour.
Arjun Atwal
• 2002 Caltex Singapore Masters
• 2003 Carlsberg Malaysian Open
• 2008 Maybank Malaysian Open
Atwal was the second Indian golfer to earn status on the DP World Tour, and soon became the first Indian to win a tournament with a five stroke victory at the Caltex Singapore Masters in 2002. Almost a year later to the day, a second followed in Malaysia where he led from start to finish. Late in the same year, he secured a PGA TOUR card via their Qualifying School. Further success in Southeast would come in 2008, where he edged out Sweden's Peter Hedblom in a play-off to become a two-time Malaysian Open winner. Atwal remains the lone Indian to win on both the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR.
Jeev Milkha Singh
• 2006 Volvo China Open
• 2006 Volvo Masters
• 2008 Bank Austria GolfOpen
• 2012 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open
It was back in 1998 that Milkha Singh made history as the first Indian to hold membership on the DP World Tour. In 2006, he won twice - first in China and then at the season-ending Volvo Masters in Spain - to finish in the top 20 on the Order of Merit for the first time. His successes would help him become the first Indian to break into the world's top 50. His third DP World Tour silverware would come in 2008 in Austria as he finished a career-best 12th on the season-long rankings. In between then, he made further history for his country as he became the first Indian to compete at the Masters Tournament. A play-off victory over Francesco Molinari at the Scottish Open in 2012 would see him overtake Atwal as his country's most successful golfer in DP World Tour history.
S.S.P. Chawrasia
• 2008 Emaar-MGF Indian Masters
• 2011 Avantha Masters
• 2016, '17 Hero Indian Open
All four of his DP World Tour titles have come on home soil. Chawrasia made DP World Tour history in 2008 by becoming the first player to win on his maiden appearance as an Affiliate Member in the inaugural Emaar-MGF Indian Masters at Delhi Golf Club, with no other player going under par on all four days. He would lose his full status on the DP World Tour at the end of the 2010 season, before he would claim the title for a second time at the renamed Avantha Masters at DLF G&CC in 2011. But, arguably, his most meaningful triumphs came at the Hero Indian Open. After finishing runner-up in his national championship on four occassions, he produced a battling final-round 71 to hold off the challenges of the then defending champion Anirban Lahiri to win in 2016, before making light of a change of venue to go back-to-back with a sensational seven-shot victory in 2017.
Anirban Lahiri
• 2015 Maybank Malaysian Open
• 2015 Hero Indian Open
A Qualifying School graduate in 2014, the following season was the only one of Lahiri's career where he made more than nine DP World Tour appearances but what a season it was. He won his maiden title in Malaysia in February 2015 and just 14 days later he was lifting a trophy again at his national open. That was also the season he finished fifth at the US PGA Championship and he would go on to become a PGA TOUR regular, finishing second twice, while playing two Presidents Cups and reoresenting his cojntry twice at the Olympics.
Shubhankar Sharma
• 2018 Joburg Open
• 2018 Maybank Championship
Sharma became the youngest Indian to win on the DP World Tour - by more than six years - when he claimed the tri-sanctioned Joburg Open title in December 2017 as a 21-year-old. He then added a second title just two months later after carding a sublime final round of 62 to win the Maybank Championship en route to being crowned the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. His international standing was recognised in the same year as he received a special invitation to play the Masters Tournament and in 2023 he secured his best Major result by finishing eighth at The Open Championship.
Gaganjeet Bhullar
• 2018 Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways
India's third winner on the 2018 season, Bhullar claimed victory in paradise by one shot at the tri-sanctioned Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways. That was one of his 11 Asian Tour wins which puts him third all-time in that category, while he also has 14 victories on the PGTA where he is still a regular winner. His victory on his HotelPlanner Tour debut at the Gujarat Kensville Challenge means he has lifted a trophy on five different ranking tours.
