Oihan Guillamoundeguy is targeting a second win of the season when he tees it up at this week’s Dutch Futures at The Dutch, Spijk.
The Frenchman sealed a maiden HotelPlanner Tour victory two weeks ago at the Irish Challenge on a testing set-up at Killeen Castle. Starting the final round three strokes back of leader Dane Jeppe Kristian Andersen, the 20-year-old fired a two under par 70 to finish three shots clear in Co. Meath.
Deciding against taking a break after his first victory, Guillamoundeguy headed straight to the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge supported by Finnish Golf Union where he ended the week in solo fourth, three shots back of winner David Law.
Guillamoundeguy, who has risen to second on the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings, is looking to contend once more in the Netherlands this week.
“You need experience to win tournaments,” he said.
“I’ve been in contention lots of the past two years and I finished badly, and I think it’s helped me a lot.
“I managed things differently in Ireland and it worked, so if I am in contention now, I am ready to win and know how to win. It was amazing and the best tournament of my life to be honest.
“I will celebrate next week as I am off so I will try and see my friends and family. It’s really nice and I can’t wait for next year.”
Along with his win in Ireland, Guillamoundeguy has four top five finishes to his name this year, in what has been the standout season of his career to date.
Now, as the Road to Mallorca enters its latter stages, the Frenchman is hoping to cement his position inside the top five and, in turn, boost his chances of earning exemption into 2026’s Rolex Series events on the DP World Tour.
“This week is a beautiful track, it’s tough and I think it will suit me nicely and it’s important for me to play well here after I accumulated a lot of points over the last two weeks,” the 20-year-old added.
“I want to earn my DP World Tour card and to finish in the top five and maybe get into some of the Rolex events next year.”
Guillamoundeguy sits behind Road to Mallorca Number One Law in the Rankings and has ambitions of finishing the year in top spot with just eight events left to play.
“I feel like I can win the Rankings, it’s going to be a fight until the end so let's see how the end of the season pans out,” he added.
“David is a nice guy, and I played with him in Finland for the first two days where he played really well and I am playing with him this week.
“It’s nice to battle with guys like that. I learn a lot off him, and I spoke to him about what life is like on the DP World Tour, which can only help me going forward.”
The first round of the The Dutch Futures gets underway at 7:30am with Guillamoundeguy teeing off alongside Law and Dutchman Lars van Meijel at 1:00pm local time.
