The DP World Tour regular season comes to an end this week and it is still All to Play For up and down the Race to Dubai Rankings at the Genesis Championship. Here are your five things to know.
An back to defend title
The home fans were treated to some drama 12 months ago as local heroes Tom Kim and Byeong-hun An duelled in a play-off, with An the man to win a second DP World Tour title. The carousel at the top of leaderboard was in full flow until Kim jumped one shot clear heading down the last when An lipped out for bogey at the penultimate hole. Both landed their approach to eight feet for birdie putts, with An applying the pressure by draining his effort to move back alongside Kim at 17 under. Kim needed to sink his to claim the one-shot victory, but he lipped out and the two home favourites were forced into the play-off. Both played risky second shots when replaying the par-five last, but Kim was left in a precarious position which resulted in him shooting into the main stand with his third and carding a bogey. An had two putts for the title on home soil but only needed one to seal his first victory on the DP World Tour since lifting the 2015 BMW PGA Championship.
"It's great, I've had a great season obviously, it's been too long (to win) on the main Tour," An said. "All I tried to do is show some great golf in front of the home fans, it's been a while since I've played in front of them. It feels amazing, it's a bit of a shame that Tom had a bit of mess there, but it's been a great tournament for me, I've really enjoyed it."
A new venue
This week marks the first time the DP World Tour has held an event at Woo Jeong Hills, with the venue having previously hosted 21 editions of the Kolon Korea Open on the Asian Tour from 2003 to 2024. The course was designed by Perry O. Dye, son of renowned architect Pete Dye, and opened in 1993. It was renovated earlier this year with completely new greens by Pete Dye Designs and the signature holes is the 13th, a par-three with an island green. Former winners at Woo Jeong Hills include Vijay Singh, John Daly, Rickie Fowler and YE Yang, while Rory McIlroy also competed in the Kolon Korea Open at Woo Jeong Hills in 2013.
Inside the field
An is one of a host of local favourites on display this week, with fellow PGA TOUR regulars Sungjae Im and Si Woo Kim also teeing it up in Cheonan. They are joined by a brace of Masters champions in Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama, while respective winners of the International and Asian Swings Laurie Canter and Keita Nakajima join them in action. A host of DP World Tour winners from recent seasons are on show including Jordan Gumberg, who is playing his 34th event of the season having teed it up in every possible tournament for which he was exempt on the 2025 Race to Dubai barring one.
Bubble boys fight for cards
In what is always one of the most intense weeks of the year, the battle is on for players to finish high enough on the Race to Dubai to secure category 10 for 2026 and gain entry into almost all DP World Tour events. This season, it is the top 115 who will have the privilege of planning a full 2026 schedule and the man right on the bubble is 2013 Masters champion Scott, with the likes of Clément Sordet, Niklas Lemke and Sami Välimäki also looking over their shoulders. German Yannik Paul is the player on the outside looking in and he is joined by Aaron Cockerill and Fabrizio Zanotti among those closest to securing safety with a good week. Go well, gentlemen.
All to Play For in Play-Off hunt
As well as the contest to reach the top 115, there is also the battle to reach the top 70 this week, with those players advancing to the DP World Tour Play-Offs. The first event of the Play-Offs is the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the top 50 on the Race to Dubai Rankings after that will make it to the season finale at the DP World Tour Championship. The man currently in 70th is Rafa Cabrera Bello but with enhanced points on offer this week and Andrea Pavan in 82nd less than 100 points back, it is still All to Play For in the quest to extend the season.
