FedEx Open de France - Day two digest

Jeff Winther defied illness, Marcel Siem showed off his moves and Guido Migliozzi found a tiny target in round two of the 2025 FedEx Open de France.

Here is everything you need to know from Friday's play at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche.

Armitage hits the gym

Leader Marcus Armitage felt he had to "battle" to back up his opening 64 with a three-under-par 68 and joked that his work to build muscle had paid off too well. "For some reason my irons were just going miles," he said. "That bit of gym work I’ve started doing this week, it’s paying off already! Kept my nose in front, and hopefully we can keep going over the weekend."

Cold Winther

Jeff Winther revealed he was battling illness, making his round of 63 - just one outside the course record - all the more impressive. After making nine birdies and a solitary bogey, the Dane said: "It was about survival today. I think I've got a slight fever and very snotty. So I need to go see the doc, I think. But beware of the ill golfer, they say." As for his plans after the round, he said simply: "I'm going to get some lunch now, see the doc and straight back to bed."

Winther's malady did not rob him of his sense of humour, as he appreciated interviewer Gabbie Partington's football-themed opening gambit:

Anything you can do...

Connor Syme went close to a hole-in-one at the third - only to be outdone by his playing partner Guido Migliozzi. Not a bad grouping off the tee here!

Daddy duties

Home favourite Adrien Saddier returned to his recent fine form with a five-under-par 66 and was happy to enjoy some home comforts with his family around him this week. "It's helping a lot," he said. "Yesterday I went straight to the creche to take my son. So it's just really helpful to get my mind off the business and just to think about my 'Dad' job."

'Oh wow, wow...'

Brooks Koepka has taken a liking to the par-five eighth this week. This was his second successive eagle on that hole - and listen for the reaction to his tee-shot...

Dance with delight

Marcel Siem waited all day for a birdie - and the popular veteran celebrated in style when it eventually came at the 18th!

Puncher's chance

Angel Hidalgo was unable to fight his way under the cut but the flamboyant Spaniard left the French crowd with at least one glimpse of his trademarking shot-making with this astonishing punch out of the trees at the second, from 115 yards to five feet as the ball ran and ran.
