Injured Ukrainian soldiers and civilians were the beneficiaries of a drive to donate golf equipment at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
In conjunction with the Ukrainian Golf Federation, the DP World Tour initiative has resulted in contributions from fans, staff and equipment manufacturers at The Belfry Hotel & Resort.
Clubs, clothing and accessories are among the new or used equipment to have been sourced, which will be shipped to Ukraine.
Many Ukrainians are turning to golf for rehabilitation, physical activity, and mental escape from the ongoing conflict, but equipment resources are low in the country.
“This initiative has been about helping our rehabilitation programme for veterans and civilians with disabilities,” said Olga Blokhina, Head of Inclusive Golf Development at the Ukrainian Golf Federation.
“This is a big, huge event with lots of people here and that’s a chance for us to [receive] some equipment for guys who are now in a very hard and difficult situation in Ukraine.
“People have donated mostly equipment, clothes, this week. It’s been pretty big numbers. It’s equipment with a nice story. It’s a really amazing result.”
The initiative is part of the DP World Tour's wider Golf for Good commitment to being environmentally and socially sustainable, ensuring we have a positive long-term impact on the courses, countries and the communities we visit.
