As the Back 9 continues in full swing this week with the Omega European Masters, we asked DP World Tour commentators Andrew Coltart, Wayne Riley and Anthony Wall to pick their ones to watch.
It’s all to play for on the Back 9.
Consisting of nine historic events across a ten-week span from August to October - with the Ryder Cup providing a short pause – players have the opportunity to qualify for the DP World Tour Play-Offs.
Upcoming highlights include trips to The K Club for the Amgen Irish Open, the return of the Rolex Series with the BMW PGA Championship and the inaugural DP World India Championship before the stretch climaxes at the Genesis Championship in South Korea.
For the second season on the Race to Dubai, the Back 9 acts as Phase Two of the Race to Dubai campaign.
The top 70 available players on the Race to Dubai Rankings will then advance to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, with the top 50 then contesting the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
With star-studded fields expected across the next two months on the international schedule, there is no shortage of high-calibre talent to look out for.
Speaking at last week's Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, professional golfers turned broadcasters Coltart, Riley and Wall pick their players to watch.
Commentator | One to Watch | Reason |
---|---|---|
Andrew Coltart | Matt Fitzpatrick | He has got off to a bit of a slow start this season but has just recently rocketed into form. Two Major top tens in the last two Majors. He is a man who has got his mojo back, got the bit between his teeth, smiling again out on the golf course. I think he is going to go all the way and is a man to keep an eye on in this Back 9 |
Wayne Riley | Rory McIlroy | My player to watch is Rory McIlroy. Why? Because he won the Green Jacket, he is a Grand Slam winner. Why wouldn’t I pick Rory McIlroy! He is playing a good few times between here and the end. He is my man, and I am sure you agree |
Anthony Wall | Tyrrell Hatton | He is the finisher, plays complete golf and is a great player. He won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship [for a record third time last season]. He is one of the best. For me, he is the one to watch |
