Dan Bradbury proud to be defending title at FedEx Open de France

The venue may have changed but the sense of pride is just as strong for Dan Bradbury as he defends his title at this week's FedEx Open de France.

The Englishman fired a closing bogey-free 66 to win by one shot last year at Le Golf National but will try to go back-to-back at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, with the event's usual home undergoing work.

Bradbury admits it is a slightly different experience taking on a fresh layout but it does not diminish the feeling of being a champion at an event that has been won by the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Sandy Lyle, Sir Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer and José María Olazábal.

"It feels really cool," he said. "Obviously we're at a different venue this year. So this does feel a little bit different but I saw my picture on the last. We played the back nine this morning. That's pretty cool. It brings back a few memories.

"The trophy looked pretty cool there and, like I say, it's just the memories of everything. To be associated with such a cool event is really, really nice."

Bradbury was 72nd on the Race to Dubai Rankings before he won the event last season and arrives in Paris now 85th in a campaign which has yielded just two top tens.

The 26-year-old, however, has been working hard on his game and is hopeful that lightning could strike twice.

"It's not been great if I'm being honest," he said of his season so far. "Obviously a great way to finish last year and actually finished quite strong after this event as well.

"But haven't had a great season. A few good results. The game's felt bad and then I've scored and I've shown. So even last week, I had two great rounds but just didn't put four together. Hopefully we will this week.

"I've made a few changes with putting and stuff and put a lot of work into that. That seems to be going better. Putted better the last few weeks.

"I've just put a lot of structures in place this year. Trying not to be as reactive and trying to be a bit more proactive with how I practise and what I do and I've got rewards of that in certain areas and not in others.

"So we'll see. I'll probably see how this season finishes, give myself a break. It feels like it's been a long season to be honest. So yeah, see how this season finishes and then see what we can do over the winter."
