Alfred Dunhill Links Championship - Pairings to look out for

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship brings together DP World Tour stars with figures from stage, screen, music, business and sport to take on three of the world's great links courses.

Let's take a look at some of the famous faces and professional partners to keep an eye on.

Eddie Pepperell & Sir Andy Murray

Pepperell retruns for his 12th consecutive Alfred Dunhill Links Championship while local hero Murray makes his first appearance. The Englishman is one of the most popular players on Tour but he may have to take second-billing to his playing partner, a two-time Wimbledon and Olympic champion and knight of the realm. Since retiring from tennis, Murray admits golf has become his new obsession and he has played the pro-am at the BMW PGA Championship the past two seasons as he strives to get down to scratch.

Tyrrell Hatton & Jeff Hatton

A family affair and perhaps one of the strongest teams in the field, three-time and defending champion Tyrrell teams up with his dad and coach Jeff. Hatton Snr is also a professional and club maker, who has crossed the Atlantic with his son from the Ryder Cup.

"It's actually the first tournament I have won with my dad here, it means a lot and to do it at the Home of Golf is really special," Hatton said after last year's win. "I'm trying not to cry to be honest, I'm a bit lost for words."

A win alongside dad could be even more emotional, having finished runner-up together last year.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Russell Fitzpatrick

Alex Fitzpatrick and Sue Fitzpatrick

The Fitzpatrick clan are all in town with both parents teaming up with their professional sons. Ryder Cup hero and 2022 U.S. Open champion Matt won the individual contest and team competition alongside mum Sue in 2023 and this time teams up with dad Russell, while brother Alex may be looking for some tips from Sue this time around. Preparing for this event was one of the reasons Russell and Sue did not go to last week's Ryder Cup so they will be ready to compete.

Dustin Johnson and Wayne Gretzky

When you've won two Majors, 22 other PGA TOUR titles and been World Number One for over two years in your career, you'd think it would be hard for your father-in-law's sporting records to trump your own. But Dustin Johnson's father-in-law Wayne Gretzky is known as The Great One for a reason and regarded by most observers as the best ice hockey player of all-time. The four-time Stanley Cup winner held 61 different NHL records at the time of his retirement, the majority of which still stand, and has more assists than any other player has goals and assists combined. No pressure, DJ.

Nicolas Colsaerts and Kelly Slater

How appropriate that the man known as the Dude should make his 500th DP World Tour appearance alongside a surfer. Colsaerts' runner-up finish last year helped him play one more season on the DP World Tour but he will retire at the end of the current campaign, with an emotional trip over the Swilcan Bridge beckoning. 11-time surfing world champion Slater is playing his seventh Dunhill Links this week - having partnered two winners in Simon Dyson and Thorbjørn Olesen.

Tommy Fleetwood and Ogden Phipps

Fleetwood and Phipps have played together in the team event on several occasions and took the title together in 2019. The duo are also good friends off the course and Fleetwood has said in the past he often enjoys his best weeks with his playing partner, something that certainly looks the case with three top tens in the individual competition since that win 2019.
