Adrian Meronk revealed that he manifested his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship victory on the DP World Tour by writing in a notebook that he was grateful for a win during the 2026 season, before it had happened.
The Pole, who ended a wait of two years and 347 days for his fifth DP World Tour title, was asked if he had envisaged a return to the winner's circle this year. In response, he revealed that he had written the same message in his notebook every day, expressing gratitude for a victory as a way of reinforcing his belief that success would come.
"I did envision it, yes," he said in his winner's press conference on Sunday evening.
"I'm writing my little notebook, little sentence, it's in Polish but I'll translate it. It says, "I'm grateful for the winnings of tournaments on DP in 2026 and Top-20 finish of the season." That's what I'm writing every single day in my notebook. Obviously that helps a lot, and it's one step towards that goal.
"But I did say that, I imagine myself sitting here or standing on 18 with the trophy, and definitely helps. Definitely helps."
As well as writing things in his notebook, Meronk spoke about going through a mental rehearsal of the final round with psychologist of several years Bevis Moynan.
"I've been working with Bevis Moynan, that's his name, my psychologist, for the last several years," he said. "He's been super helpful.
"I texted him yesterday. Obviously I'm playing great and I'm in great position. I knew the forecast would be tough and I knew I would be nervous. We went through like a mental rehearsal of the round, seeing the shots, feeling the wind, feeling the pressure, feeling the nerves, and that kind of set me up for the day.
"I felt quite good starting the day. Obviously get off to a good start, as well. I think that helped me a lot. We tend to do that before every tournament to kind of mentally get me ready and prepare me for what might happen on the golf course.
"We always kind of start -- we start from me standing after the tournament with the trophy -- not the trophy but we call it the winning performance, and then kind of trying to imagine what would I feel, what kind of emotions, and I'm trying to see myself like ten minutes after the winning performance on the 18th green, and that's what we did. And then we kind of work backwards with the round, and that's how we do it."
It's a process that paid off on the Old Course, St Andrews on Sunday, as Meronk carded a final round 68 to earn a two stroke victory over Casey Jarvis and Niklas Nørgaard at the same venue where he made his first professional start on the DP World Tour ten years ago.
He began the round two shots adrift of South African Jarvis, but took the lead at the 12th and held on for an emotional first victory in nearly three years.
