2026 Genesis Championship - day three digest

Yuto Katsuragawa ties the course record to move ahead, Johannes Veerman and Sanghun Shin chase the ace and Antoine Rozner battles on in his bid to make Abu Dhabi.

Everything you need to know on Moving Day in Cheonan.

Katsuragawa matches 20-year-old course record

Japanese star Yuto Katsuragawa needed a big week in Korea as he sat in 106th on the Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World. Only the top 100 are guaranteed their card for the 2027 season and a stunning third round has all but secured his playing privileges. A birdie blitz from the second saw him rattle off four in a row to move into contention before adding another at the eighth. The 28-year-old had to wait until the 14th for his next gain but he added one more at the 15th before closing his flawless round with a three-footer at the last, matching Jinam Kang’s 63 set in 2006. "It’s been a long time since I had this good feeling so it was a great round,” Katsuragawa said. “I’ve been outside of the 100 (on the rankings), but I’ve been aiming up and now I can look up to victory, and go all the way to play my golf.”

A real pain in the... back

Antonie Rozner knew a strong performance in Cheonan could earn him a place in the playoffs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Currently sat in 77th, with the top 70 set to qualify for Abu Dhabi,  the overnight leader needed treatment on a back injury after going two over through his opening four holes. The Frenchman battled back with birdies at the 15th and 18th to return to ten under for a share of third, just three behind Katsuragawa.

Doyeob Mun's beauty

The 34-year-old home favourite was out of position at the ninth, but Doyeob Mun hit a peach into the ninth green and almost holed out for eagle.

Veerman and Shin chase the ace

Johannes Veerman was inches from a slam dunk ace at the par-three 13th, which was offering a Genesis car for both the player and their caddie this week. I wonder who would have been more disappointed with the near miss?

Fans at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club were nearly treated to an ace from a home hero at the 16th. So close from Sanghun Shin!

Veerman then found the cup as he chipped in for birdie at the 16th, which brought a wry smile from Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World leader Eugenio Chacarra.

Jarvis hits the cup... but stays out!

Casey Jarvis will be wondering what happened on Moving Day as the South African slipped two behind the leader. He opened up a three-shot lead at the turn, but his misfortunes spiralled when his tee-shot at the 12th went out of bounds. Jarvis then produced this superb effort for eagle at the last, which would have seen him rejoin the lead at 13 under.
