Scotland's returning Ryder Cup hero grabbed a share of the lead before the weather-affected second round of the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was suspended following an afternoon of brutal conditions.

Tough conditions test world's best

The early starters saw a repeat of Thursday's favourable conditions but things got tougher and tougher as the day wore on. Strong winds and heavy rain made life extremely difficult for the world-class field across the afternoon, with scoring suffering as a result. Play was eventually suspended due to unplayable courses at 16.14 local time and no further action was possible on Friday evening. There may be a few people in need of a new umbrella after day two!

MacIntyre and Sterne take over at the top

Playing at The Old Course, St Andrews, early starter Richard Sterne managed to post a bogey-free 67 to set the target at 12 under par. With conditions rapidly worsening, it looked like no-one would be able to catch the South African, but up stepped Scottish Ryder Cup star Robert MacIntyre. Playing at Kingsbarns, he signed for a second straight 66 after making seven birdies and a solitary bogey in the worst of the weather. He finished his round with a tap-in birdie on the ninth to join Sterne at the summit.
