Alfred Dunhill Links Championship - Day one digest

Everything you need to know from day one in Scotland.

Three players shared the lead after the first round of the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship while Scotland's celebrity and professional stars shone brightly on home soil on Thursday.

Here is everything you need to know from day one in Scotland.

Trio tied at the top

Englishman Matthew Jordan showed off his links prowess as he fired a 63 at The Old Course, St Andrews to share the lead with Darius van Driel and Ryan Brehm. Jordan went birdie-birdie-eagle-eagle from the third hole before making four more birdies in the first seven holes after the turn to hit the front on his own but dropped a shot on the 17th to fall back into a share of the lead on nine under par. Jordan almost finished with a hole-out eagle on the 18th, which would have seen him tie the course record, but his approach hit the flag and landed 22 feet from the cup, leaving him to settle for a closing par. American Brehm, ranked 1407th in the world, starred at Kingsbarns Golf Links as he made an eagle and seven birdies in a flawless 63. Dutchman Van Driel made a total of nine birdies, including seven in a row from the 15th, as he too signed for a 63.

MacIntyre wows his home crowd

European Ryder Cup star Robert MacIntyre is back on home soil this week and he put on a show for his adoring fans with a series of stunning shots. After chipping in for a birdie at Carnoustie's fifth hole, the man from Oban sent his approach at the tenth to within a few feet of the pin before knocking in the birdie putt.

Ross Fisher continued his love affair with The Old Course on day one as he shot a flawless 65, and he converted some mammoth birdie putts along the way. After draining a 25-footer on the 13th, he repeated the trick from similar range at the 15th to reach seven under par.

Johnson goes low at Carnoustie

Two-time Major Champion Dustin Johnson made the most of favourable playing conditions at Carnoustie as he fired a bogey-free 64. The American carded an eagle and six birdies to reach eight under par and put himself in a great position for the rest of the week. He said: "I've obviously played The Open here. I played the Dunhill a couple of times. Generally haven't played that well around here, so it's nice to get a good score in." Johnson is playing alongside his father-in-law and ice hockey great Wayne Gretzky this week.

Andy Murray impresses
