Who can still win the Race to Dubai?

The 2025 DP World Tour season comes to a close at the DP World Tour Championship this week as Rory McIlroy is on course to win a seventh Race to Dubai title. But who else is in the race?

McIlroy, who returns as the defending champion to the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, currently leads the Race to Dubai with a total of 4,640.06 points from 10 events.

The Northern Irishman's year was underpinned by his history-making Masters Tournament victory that completed golf's Grand Slam, but it was not the only part of the story of one of the best year's of his career. A fourth place at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a runner-up during his Genesis Scottish Open title defence, another top ten at The Open before a second DP World Tour victory of the year at the Amgen Irish Open were all part of that story. Last week's third place finish cemented his position at the top of the Race to Dubai further, and he now has a chance to make even more history at an event where he has an incredible record.

If he were to win a record fourth DP World Tour Championship title at this venue this week, it would see him overtake Seve Ballesteros (6) on the all-time Race to Dubai list, and be within touching distance of Colin Montgomerie's long-standing record of eight.

There are only two players who could potentially stand in the way. Three-time winner Marco Penge, and fellow Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton, who are both searching for their first Race to Dubai titles.

Penge has had an incredible year on the DP World Tour in 2025. Having retained his card in the final counting event of the regular season in South Korea last year, Penge became the first three-time winner this season with victories at the Hainan Classic, Danish Golf Championship and last month's Open de España presented by Madrid. He is McIlroy's main contender on 3,873.04 points from 25 events, and has three different roads to Race to Dubai victory - but they all include him finishing tied 2nd or better.

Similarly Hatton, who sits on 2,919.18 points, returns to Dubai having claimed the first Rolex Series title of the year at the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic. In addition to being part of Ryder Cup Europe's victory at Bethpage Black, Hatton had a great Major season, with a tied 14th at The Masters, fourth place at the U.S. Open and tied 16th at The Open. With a tied fifth place at the BMW PGA Championship and a runner-up at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Hatton has given himself a chance to claim his first Race to Dubai title.
